Top 10 Games from Ubuntu Software Center
In this post, you gonna see Top 10 games from Ubuntu Software Center. This list is based on my opinion and some measures like- size, paid/free, compatibility, user reviews, categories etc. So let’s have a look-
This is the home page for BurgerSpace, a hamburger-smashing video game. It is a clone of the 1982 BurgerTime video game by Data East. In it you play a role of a chef who must create burgers by walking rapidly on the available ingredients until they collected in a defined order in a plate below.
But it isn’t as simple as it looks. And like always there is a catch- there will be several evil ingredients like chillies, onion, cabbage etc. that will try to prevent you from stopping preparing burgers. It’s always fun playing it, that’s why it’s in my list.
It is a networked, fast-paced, 3D first person game. That will give you a feel of counter strike. It has rich graphics and some nicely crafted scenarios as like counter strike. Now you will have the idea- why this game is in Top 10 Games from Ubuntu Software Center. if not then keep going..
The game client works as the map editor. It also gives the option of multiplayer game mode that can be played over a shared network. Plus, it gives you the freedom to edit or create the map as per your choice or the network you’re in. It’s a must have game from Ubuntu Software Center if you’re into shooting games.
(Caution- Not for the minors.)
Pingus is a free, open-source computer game inspired by Lemmings and created by Ingo Ruhnke. It features penguins instead of lemmings. It has been reviewed favorably by CNN.com, About.com, Unix Review, and other publications.
In this game, you have to take several penguins to their destination. Actually not only to the desired destination, you have to take them away from several hurdles and obstacles. Although the penguins are smart enough to find their own way but they still need to a guide, how can show them the right path. It’s fun playing this game and seeing your guesses getting paid off can stretch your lips too. That’s why this game deserves, at least, a trial.
The game world is mapped by a grid; vehicles tilt to meet hilly terrain, and projectiles can be realistically blocked by steep mountains. The camera is free-moving and can zoom in and out, rotate, and pan up or down while navigating the battlefield. In the game, units of different factions are painted different colors. The New Paradigm, the Collective, and Nexus are the enemies of the Project in the campaign, and they can be seen attacking Project forces as well as Scavengers, survivors of the nuclear fallout.
Units can all be customized according to chassis drive system and mounted object. Units can earn experience. Earning experience cause units to level up from ranks such as Rookie to Trained and Professional. The game comes with several combinations that varies according to the flow of levels, time, hardships etc. So if you’re into strategy based war games, this is for you.
SuperTuxKart’s gameplay is similar to Mario Kart but has become more distinctive over time. The characters are open source mascots, with Mozilla ThunderBird being the race referee.
The game may be played by a single player or in local multiplayer mode.
SuperTuxKart has several race modes that add extra flavors to the game. It has several variations in terms of levels, functioning, playing options etc. That’s why it is in the- Top 10 Games from Ubuntu Software Center. It’s a must have game from Ubuntu Software Center if you’re into racing games.
Teeworlds presents itself as a crossover between classic sprite-based shoot-em-up games of the arcade era and modern-day first-person shooters. It is played on two-dimensional, side-scrolling maps typical of the platformer genre, but uses FPS-style keyboard controls for moving, switching weapons and chatting.he game also sports
The game also sports a grappling hook and double-jump mechanics for maneuvering. Maps’ landscape themes include- grass, cave, winter, desert, and jungle, which feature map elements such as spikes, pitfalls, and non-hook-able metal and rock in vanilla game types. Because of this and several other features, it’s also a must have game from Ubuntu Software Center.
SuperTux 2 is a free and open-source two-dimensional platform game published under the GNU General Public License. The game was originally created by Bill Kendrick and is maintained by the SuperTux Development Team. This game is based on super Mario that we used to play in the nine-Teens.
Now coming to the features and other things. This game got everything that a adventure based game needs. It has cool graphics and scenarios and scenes will take you in the memories of super mario. however, there are some cruical changes in this game like characters, graphics and some functionalities. So if you’re a mario lover- this game is for you. At least for Mario’s sake. Am mario addict that’s it is in my list of Top 10 Games from Ubuntu Software Center.
The player controls a group of hedgehogs. On his turn, a player can select one of his hedgehogs. The player can then use weapons and tools to kill opposing hedgehogs. Killing all enemies leads to victory. The game occurs in a destructible landscape, which is altered by the use of many weapons over the course of the match.
Although the hedgehogs can move, their motion is restricted by the shape of the landscape. However, hedgehogs can use tools such as ropes and parachutes to move into otherwise inaccessible areas. Turns are usually limited in duration by a time limit or the use of a weapon. A hedgehog dies when it jumps into water or when its health is reduced to zero. It gives a purely new flavor.
This is an interesting puzzle game where you have to guide a ball by controlling the floor underneath. The ball must move in all directions to collect the coins.
In the grand tradition of marble madness and super monkey ball, Neverball has you guide a rolling ball through dangerous territory. Balance on narrow bridges, navigate mazes, ride moving platforms and dodge pushers and shovers to get to the goal. Race against the clock to collect coins to earn extra balls.
Enigma consists of approximately 2500 levels, known as ‘landscapes’, which may be played in any order. The player controls one or more marbles using the mouse and interacts with the landscape purely through the marble. Levels fall into two broad categories: Oxyd landscapes and Meditation landscapes. Some levels may appear to fall into one category while actually being in the other.
Often in each level, apart from the introductory ones that introduce the game gradually to the player, each level either contains a puzzle, race or many hazards which the player must solve, win or avoid or risk making the level impossible to solve or risk having the marble sink, fall down an abyss, destroyed or crushed and lots more fun. So this game deserves to be in.
