How Torrents Work – A Must Know Guide

So You Want to Know How torrents work Right ..??
Torrents are used worldwide and to be honest it always comes first in our when we need to download something which we need to pay for free but it’s not always for that purpose.
It helps a lot in conserving bandwidth when it comes to sharing large Files. Just for Instance if we have a Single server Hosting a large ISO file shared for Download then as more and more people will start downloading the File there is chance that we’ll end up in degradation of download speed or with Server Down Problem.
So, How Torrent Works..??
Well to understand this Lets First Know Difference between Centralized servers and de-centralized or P2P (Peer to Peer) Servers.
-
Centralized servers:
As the name speaks itself, It Can Be Understood as a Central Machine handling all the Requests and Providing Respective Responses after Serving the Requests.
This Is Generally What Happens when we Host a website to a Server and Make a request using URL for accessing the specified web page our request then goes to a centralized Server it then serves and does response for made request which is received and rendered by Browser.
Demerit: These Type Of Servers can be Considered as a Single Point of Failure as all computations are performed by this Single Server so we are fully dependent on this.
-
De-centralized or P2P (Peer to Peer) Servers :
While On the Other Hand Decentralized servers are much more efficient as compared to centralized ones as they don’t have any Single Point Of failure. The Functioning of De-centralized Servers can be understood as a group of computers working as both clients as well as servers at the same time.
So that any computer attached to that group can request to other computers in that group or it can also respond to requests made by others.
Every single node attached to such group is termed as Peers and hence these De-centralized Servers are also Known as Peer to Peer (P2P) Servers.
So, you would be Thinking Why on Earth we learnt about Centralized servers and Peer to Peer Servers we are here to know about Torrents, Well Bit-torrents follow the Working Methodology of Peer to Peer Servers.
